Founded 1881. Mothballed 1994, reopened 2001 by Mark Reynier with master distiller Jim McEwan (formerly of Bowmore). Three product lines: Bruichladdich (unpeated), Port Charlotte (heavily peated, ~40 PPM), Octomore (super-heavily peated, often 200+ PPM, the most heavily peated Scotch made). Strong terroir + barley-variety transparency.
