13th-generation Yugoslav-American distilling family. Miles Karakasevic started the distillery in St. Helena (Napa) in 1983, eventually moving the still to a Mendocino County ranch. Famous for unconventional whiskey — Charbay Whiskey Release I (2000) was distilled from finished bottle-conditioned beer (Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA). The Hop-Flavored line continues that experiment. Also produces vodka, brandy (alambic), and pastis.
