Founded 1969 — Nikka's second distillery in the lush Miyagi prefecture (between two rivers). Lighter, more elegant, more floral house style than Yoichi (steam-fired stills, taller pots). Master distiller Taketsuru intentionally created a contrasting profile to Yoichi for blending purposes.
