Founded 1973 — Suntory's second distillery, built in the Southern Japanese Alps to provide a different style of malt (lighter, more forest/herbal) to complement Yamazaki. Surrounded by virgin forest, fed by Mt. Kaikomagatake spring water. Uses some peated malt — the only Suntory distillery that does so consistently.
