Founded 1824. The most internationally recognized luxury single-malt brand. Sherry-cask-matured house style — unusually high reliance on first-fill European oak Oloroso casks (rather than the bourbon-cask-and-sherry-cask blend that dominates Speyside). The 2018 distillery rebuild (the new Bjarke Ingels-designed visitor center) is one of the most architecturally significant whisky distillery buildings in the world.
